Isaac Cordal is a Spanish artist who since 2006 has dedicated himself to placing miniature sculptures in public places around the world, in cities such as Berlin, London, Bogotá, Brussels, Zagreb, Vienna, Taipei, Milan, New York, Amsterdam, Nantes, San José, Hanoi, among others. No one can deny that there is something magical about their figures, which, strategically placed in abandoned corners of our public spaces, remind us of the (dormant) passage of time, of our decadence, of the harmful effects of materialism and consumerism and the destruction of nature. Within the contemporary context of globalisation, Isaac Cordal’s installations, which fuse a unique and ambiguous humour and irony, bring a new and renewed meaning to important things such as family, friends, the body, health, work, education, food, wisdom, smiles, children and even the painful lessons that life teaches us, which, being global, will also be local.
