Engineers, manager e programmer
João Aidos is a manager, programmer, producer and project engineer with a deep connection to the cultural network and fabrics throughout Portugal. He also has a degree in Theatre with a specialization in theater studies. He has been involved in numerous projects within the National Network of Theatres and Cinemas, and has held the most important positions of Director-General for the Arts at the Ministry of Culture; manager, project coordinator and programmer for the Convento São Francisco (Coimbra) “complex”. He was Artistic Director of Teatro Aveirense (Aveiro), Teatro Virgínia (Torres Novas) and CAA – Centro de Artes de Águeda. He is currently responsible for the Santarém Cultura project, for programming the TMO – Ourém Municipal Theatre, as well as consulting on the project for the new CECQ – Quarteira Education and Culture Centre. He is also an advisor to Portugal Expo Dubai 2021/22.
He has also coordinated and authored projects for the restoration and construction of various theaters and cultural spaces, including the Virgínia Theater in Torres Novas, the Aveirense Theater (Aveiro), the José Lúcio da Silva Theater (Leiria), the Faro Municipal Theater, the Fafe Theater-Cine, the Municipal Cultural Workshop (Coimbra), the Alba Cine-Theater (Albergaria-a-Velha), the Garrett Theater (Póvoa do Varzim), the Oficina Space (Guimarães); Arquipélago – Centro de Artes Contemporâneas dos Açores (Black-Box), Cine-Teatro da Lousã (Penacova), Cine-Teatro de Ourém; Teatro de Vale de Cambra; Sala Roxy (Guadalajara-México); Cine-Teatro S. Geraldo – preliminary study (Braga). Geraldo – previous study (Braga – Media Arts), Teatro Municipal de Covilhã – Centro de Inovação Cultural (Covilhã); Teatro Ibérico (Lisbon); Cine-Teatro de Abrantes, among others.
He also organized the conferences: “Encontros com a Lusofonia”; “O Parque e a Cidade”; “Conversas no Convento”, “Encontros com a Cultura” in Covilhã and the “Terras de Cabral” conferences in Santarém.
João Aidos was also an actor, founding ACTA – Companhia de Teatro do Algarve and Efémero – Companhia de Teatro de Aveiro, as well as founding several national and international programming networks, among many other projects linked to consultancy, cultural planning and project management.
